Imaginarium is Southern Maryland’s first modern indoor play space dreamed of and designed by a local teacher! Enjoy a 6,000 sq.ft. hands-on, interactive, and drop-in play-based center for children aged 1-10. While at Imaginarium, let your imagination run wild as you become an artist in our “Creation Station” craft area, an architect in our “Build it” zone, a firefighter or train conductor in our “Tiny Town,” or a Pirate or Princess on our large custom-built Pirate Ship and Castle playground. When you’re finished playing and need a rest, come on over to our Sensory Reading Nook, find a comfy seat, grab a fidget or a book, and relax for a bit.

Planning a birthday party, field trip, or group playdate? We have you covered! Come check out Imaginarium for a one-of-a kind interactive and organic play experience.

Come PLAY, CREATE, INSPIRE, and IMAGINE!

Owner
Tim is happily married to his wife, Gina, father of three beautiful and talented daughters, and “Bopa” to 7 lovely grandchildren (and hopefully more on the way). Being a practicing Catholic, Tim recognizes the importance of much needed family activities and building of community. It is those fundamental beliefs that have lead him to invest in a tutoring company – helping those that need a little extra assistance, and in Imaginarium – a facility geared towards family fun and family values. Tim has been involved in government contracting for over 40 years, entrepreneur for 10 years, and living in Northern Virginia for over 20 years. Hobbies include golf, reading, and being the best Bopa possible!
Lenae King

Lenae King

Director
Lenae is a wife, mother of four beautiful children, and former special educator in Calvert County Public Schools. After teaching for several years, Lenae ventured into the private sector and offered highly specialized tutoring and IEP services through her other business, Magnificent Minds Learning Center. Lenae strongly believes in play-based learning as well as opportunities for organic and unplugged play. With four little ones at home, it was quickly realized that while Southern Maryland has many wonderful outdoor play options, there were few indoor play spaces nearby for the days that were too hot, too cold, or just plain miserable. After two years of research and development, the concept of Southern Maryland’s first modern indoor play space was born. Imaginarium utilizes Lenae’s background in education by incorporating concepts of child development, play-based instruction, and social skills development while also providing a fun, imaginative, parent and child friendly, indoor play space for the surrounding tri-county area. Outside of family and business, Lenae enjoys baking, fine art and composite photography, and butterflies.
Jimmy King

Jimmy King

Technology & Facilities
Jimmy is a husband, father of four beautiful children, and USMC war veteran. During the day, he’s an Electrical Engineer for the US Navy at Patuxent River Naval Air Station, with a focus on field-programmable gate arrays and digital hardware development at the Atlantic Test Range. At Imaginarium, he is a man of many hats – managing all aspects of technology in the playspace, constructing and modifying playhouses and furniture, ensuring a clean and safe environment for guests and employees, repairing the HVAC, cleaning toilets…you get the idea. Outside of family and business, Jimmy enjoys playing the drums, building things (anything!) and reading.
